Assigning Resident-Specific Objectives

Instructions for RPDs and Designees to assign resident-specific objectives on the Program Competency Areas and Resident Competencies tabs.

Use this process to assign objectives to individual residents based on their specific interests or areas of focus outside the program’s standard curriculum.

These tasks can be completed by the RPD and Designee.

Before You Begin

  • Resident-specific objectives are assigned to individual residents only (not the entire program). If the objective is for all residents in the program, it should be added as a program elective objective. If you previously added a competency area as an elective set, but it should be for specific residents only, you must remove and re-add it as a resident-specific curricular set to assign it to individual residents.
  • Resident-specific objectives are not automatically assigned upon enrollment.
  • Once assigned, resident-specific objectives must be taught, evaluated, and marked Achieved for Residency (ACHR). Learning activities should be added and mapped to each objective.
  • They should be discussed in the Resident Development Plan.
  • Resident-Specific Objectives can be tracked the same as all other objectives.
  • They can be viewed on submitted evaluations (on a separate page) and in evaluation reports.
  • For planning purposes, they can be included in the program’s “Goals and Objectives Taught and Evaluated in Learning Experiences” report and will be listed in the resident-specific “Scheduled Learning Experiences for Assigned Goals and Objectives” report.
  • On the PharmAcademic Dashboards:
    • Learning Experience Dashboard: Learning experiences with resident-specific objectives selected will be designated as such on the grid
    • Resident Dashboard: residents who are assigned resident-specific objectives will have a count of the number of objectives on the grid
