Protocol Order Barcode Validation Settings

Learn how to configure barcode validation for protocol orders in Vestigo, including setup requirements, user permissions, and inventory scanning options.

This is an optional field and will only be visible if your site is contracted for Vestigo Barcode Validation. If enabled, users will be required to scan barcodes from the inventory to ensure the inventory picked matches with the inventory chosen in Vestigo. This also requires you to label your inventory with Vestigo labels.

Requirements

Sites must have at least one override reason created. Site inventory labels must also include the QR code for Barcode Validation. Labels must be available on the inventory

Permissions

ProtocolSnapshot - Ability to view the Summary page of a Protocol (Protocol Snapshot).

ProtocolManagement - Protocol Management

EditProtocolDrugsOrders - Drug management for a protocol

Order Barcode Validation Settings

At the Protocol Order Edit/Build screen, near the bottom of the settings, there is a section labeled Requires Inventory Validation. Once that flag is checked, the section expands with additional settings.

    1. Dispense Navigation - This setting defines if the user will be navigated to the validation screen after entry/verification, or if it will be performed later. If performed at a later date, the validation can be completed through the facility alerts. The user must have the BarcodeValidation permission to be navigated.

Note - If the order utilizes both Navigate directly on dispense and Patient Return Required that navigates directly after verification, the barcode validation will be performed first. Once the validation is completed, the user is then navigated to the participant return screen.

    2. Inventory Scanning - This setting determines how the user will scan the inventory at the validation screen. Only one option can be selected
      1. Single-dispense Unit - This is used if you are dispensing 2 vials on an order. If inventory is itemized, users are recommended to use this option.
      2. Multi-dispense Unit - If inventory is dispensed in a different Unit of Measure than how it was physically received. In example, you received two bottles of 100 tablets each, and you receive them into Vestigo as tablets to allow dispenses of a smaller quantity, like 30 tablets.

One setting is required in each section if the order Requires Inventory Validation.
