Instructions for Preceptors to submit the ASHP Annual Preceptor Survey in PharmAcademic.

Before You Begin
Questions: Review the 2026 ASHP Annual Preceptor Questions.
Purpose: The ASHP Annual Preceptor Survey is used to gain an understanding of how preceptors perceive their training and level of preparedness in working with residents and their thoughts about the effectiveness of their residency program(s) in supporting both residents and preceptors.
Anonymous Responses: Responses to the survey are anonymous, but the data will be used in aggregate by ASHP to evaluate residency programs nation-wide. Residency Program Directors cannot view the survey or responses, but they can see if surveys have been completed.
Who Completes the Survey: Surveys will be sent via PharmAcademic to all Pharmacist Preceptors who were listed as a Primary Preceptor on a resident’s schedule for the 2025-2026 residency year.
Tracking: RPDs and Designees can see a list of preceptors who have received a survey in their program and whether or not the survey has been submitted by going to Manage Program > Tools > Review ASHP Survey Completion > select “Preceptor Surveys.”

Survey Scope
Preceptors, please answer each question to the best of your ability based on the learning experience(s) you shared with the 2025 - 2026 resident(s).
Preceptors will be asked to enter feedback for each program where they were listed as a Primary Preceptor on a resident’s schedule during the previous residency year. If precepting for multiple programs, they will only complete one survey: each survey question requires a separate response for each program.
Receiving Notification
Preceptors will receive an email from PharmAcademic to notify them when the Annual Preceptor Survey is available on the PharmAcademic Home page.
Navigating the Survey
The survey is multiple pages long. A bar in the upper-right corner will display the user's progress. Users can navigate the survey by:
- Clicking the Next and Previous buttons to move from page to page
- Selecting a page from the Jump to drop-down box to go directly to a page
Submitting the Survey
At the end of the survey, users will click the Submit button when they are finished. If a question is missed, PharmAcademic will indicate which question(s) were not answered. Navigate to the question(s), select a response, and click the Submit button.
Once submitted, a confirmation email message will be sent to the preceptor, but they will not have access to the survey or responses.
