Managing Parent/Parent Inventory Locations

Within Vestigo, each facility can have its inventory locations. When building a protocol, the control inventory location is set on the drug build. This control location will be the default location on the receive screen when receiving inventory for this drug. When running the Drug Accountability Record, or DARF, the record for inventory in this control location will be the Control Record. If inventory is received to a different location or transferred from the control location to another location, that record will be indicated as the Satellite Record.

It is strongly recommended to review our Managing Inventory Locations article prior to making any changes to inventory locations.

Modifying a Parent/Parent Inventory Location

Once an inventory is received, it is not recommended to adjust an inventory location and change the overall definition of the location. It should only be used to correct spelling errors. If you are moving inventory to a new location because of a deprecated location (eg, fridge died), you will want to create a New Inventory location to not impact Historical Data.

  1. Navigate to Application Administration
  2. Click on Edit and Client Facility Settings
  3. Click on View/Edit on the appropriate facility
  4. Select View/Edit for the Facility you want to add locations to
  5. Scroll down and click on Inventory Locations under Facility Items
  6. Click on Edit for the Inventory Location that needs to be modified
  7. Make the appropriate changes
  8. Click Save

Inactivating a Parent/Parent Inventory Location

Inactivating a location does not remove inventory in that location. It will only prevent new inventory being added to the location. It will not appear in any inventory location drop downs.

  1. Navigate to Application Administration
  2. Click on Edit and Client Facility Settings
  3. Click on View/Edit on the appropriate facility
  4. Select View/Edit for the Facility you want to add locations to
  5. Scroll down and click on Inventory Locations under Facility Items
  6. Click on Edit for the Inventory Location that needs to be modified
  7. Uncheck the Currently Active flag
  8. Click Save

Reactivating a Parent/Parent Inventory Location

Deleting a Parent/Parent Inventory Location

Inventory locations can only be deleted if inventory has never been received into that location. Once inventory has been received into the location, it can only be deactivated.

Deleting an inventory location is permanent and cannot be reversed.

  1. Navigate to Application Administration
  2. Click on Edit and Client Facility Settings
  3. Click on View/Edit on the appropriate facility
  4. Select View/Edit for the Facility you want to add locations to

1 The Send to Outbound Interface flag is a now deprecated carousel integration. This is slated to be removed in a future update.
